As someone who has always been interested in how people find their career path, I like to say that I’m on my 3rd career! I attended KU and graduated with degrees in Spanish and Secondary Education, which led to my first career as a high school Spanish teacher in the Kansas City area. While I loved the classroom (and still do), I wanted to work with students in a more comprehensive way, so I returned to college to earn a Masters of School Counseling, which led to my 2nd career as a high school guidance counselor in Chapman, KS. In 2014, I earned a Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Development from Kansas State University, which has led to my 3rd career working in higher education, first as a Career Coach at the University Career Center at KU, and now as a Student Success Specialist for TRIO SES! In all of my work, I’ve loved watching young people discover and develop their talents and skills, find an academic and career path, and learn what they have to offer in the world!
When I’m not at work, I love doing anything related to history, exploring new places (both near and far away), riding bikes, hiking, and spending time with my family and pets.
