Academic Advising and Course Selection
Each participant is assigned an individual TRIO advisor, called a Student Success Specialist (SSS), who provides holistic and intentional academic advising to help ensure that students are academically successful. The SSS creates a semester plan, including academic goals, with each student at the beginning of a semester and maintains contact with the student at least 4 times throughout the semester. Students who have not been assigned a departmental advisor within their major may meet with their SSS as their primary advisor for enrollment purposes. SSSs are trained as adjunct advisors with the KU Undergraduate Advising Center.
