Who is Eligible for Services?

TRIO SES & STEM is free and available to University of Kansas students who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and meet at least one of the following criteria:

First-generation college students
“First-generation” means that a student’s parents or legal guardians did not receive a bachelor’s degree.
Low-income college students
Students whose families meet the federal guidelines for low-income status.
Students with a documented disability
Students with disabilities should register with the Academic Achievement and Access Center (AAAC).

Students must also have an academic need (e.g.: first semester freshman status, ACT below 21, high school or transfer GPA below 2.5, etc.) and strengths (e.g.:  overall GPA 2.5 or higher, ACT is 21 or higher, persistence toward graduation) for services to qualify.
