I Am First
I Am First celebrates the success of first-generation students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the University of Kansas.
What does it mean to be a first-generation college student?
Being a first-generation college student means that none of your parents or guardians received a bachelor’s degree.
We aim to build a network and sense of pride among students, faculty, staff, and alumni who identify as first-generation college students. This website also provides first-generation centered resources, events, and community recognition.
One of the I Am First initiatives is the honoring of individuals who have excelled as role models, trailblazers, and advocates of first-generation student success. These individuals will be featured annually on a commemorative poster published by the TRIO SES & STEM office. Click here to learn more and nominate a Jayhawk!
Please check back regularly for details on upcoming first-generation events at the University of Kansas!
