Alex Hernandez-Castro

Alejandra (Alex) Hernández-Castro holds a Bachelor's in Political Science and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has over 20 years of experience working with underrepresented students and she too comes from a first-generation and low-income background. Before working with TRIO SES & STEM, Alejandra was the Program Coordinator for Heartland CAMP. In addition to advising TRIO students, she co-teaches the Hixson/CAMP/TRIO UNIV 101 section, is the advisor to UNITED at KU (a student organization for undocumented students), and is a member of KU’s Latinx Faculty and Staff Council.
